A Novel Structure of a Power System Stabilizer for Microgrids

This paper proposes a novel structure of power system stabilizer (PSS) to improve the stability synchronous generators (SGs) in microgrids. Microgrids are relatively vulnerable terms due their small size and low inertia. The rotational inertia voltage support SGs highly suitable for getting over vulnerabilities microgrids, but there exist weaknesses low-frequency oscillations (LFOs) limitations synchronization electromagnetic characteristics. Therefore, we study how accommodate features microgrids PSS further enhance present advantages. proposed this not only damps out LFOs by conventional lead-lag compensation also provides additional damping torque according magnitude perturbation using impedance characteristic (SIC). Lyapunov energy-function-based control strategy can increase synchronizing SG transient stability. For performance verification, use parameters obtained particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm compare existing with one analyze them. effect micro-power (?PSS) is analyzed through frequency response analysis, finally, small-signal analysis verified time-domain simulation (TDS) on MATLAB/Simulink.
